Wrap-around support

We provide holistic wrap-around support to equip the young people in our services with the tools, skills and confidence they need to move forward with their lives and thrive.

How we do it

Young people at risk of homelessness often face a complex web of challenges beyond the immediate need for shelter. Many have endured extreme hardship, including family breakdown, exploitation, financial challenges or mental health issues.

Tackling homelessness requires more than just a safe place to stay. It requires comprehensive, personalised support that empowers young people to rebuild their lives.

Our wrap-around services are designed to meet the diverse needs of each young person, offering support in areas such as mental health, financial management and housing advice.

I’m so grateful for everything Depaul UK has done for me. From supporting me with building my CV and buying the equipment for my work, and so many other good things as well.

How it works

Here’s how we support young people to get back on their feet and move towards a brighter future:

  • Progression coaches: Our dedicated progression coaches work one-on-one with young people to set personal goals, develop practical skills and navigate the transition to independence. They provide consistent support, helping clients to identify strengths and overcome obstacles.
  • Housing advice: We offer expert guidance on housing options, tenancy rights, claiming benefits and navigating the rental market. Our team assists young people in finding and maintaining suitable accommodation, ensuring they have a safe and stable place to call home.
  • Mental health and wellbeing: Our specialist Mental Health and Wellbeing Team provides one-to-one counselling and crisis support as well as group wellbeing workshops. They refer young people to specialist organisations if needed and offer training to all staff working with clients in our services.  Our trauma-informed approach ensures that support is sensitive to individual experiences and needs.
  • Money management: To support financial independence, we offer workshops and one-on-one sessions on budgeting, saving and managing expenses. These skills and resources equip young people with the tools to make informed financial decisions.
  • Accessing employment, education and training: We help young people to access education, training or employment. Support includes one-to-one coaching and group sessions to develop skills, build confidence, set goals and spark aspirations. We also connect young people with volunteering opportunities and potential employers.

The impact

Last year, 371 clients were supported towards education, training or employment, and 65% of clients with an identified mental health challenge saw an improvement thanks to our wrap-around support

Our wrap-around support services are designed to address the complex challenges young people face when experiencing or at risk of homelessness. By providing tailored assistance in areas like mental health, housing and budgeting, we empower young people to overcome barriers and build a foundation for a stable, independent life.

Our holistic approach not only addresses immediate needs but ensures young people are equipped with the skills, confidence and resilience needed to thrive.
